There are days that hymns run through my mind like a hamster on a wheel. Finally i get so weary with it, I look at the lyrics and get why. I don’t know where you put your hope, friend. But if you are a believer, then your hope should only come from your provider, your physician, your Savior. America cannot save you. America is not the Savior. Your church cannot save you. Your church is not the Savior. Your spouse, nor your parents, nor your pastor, nor your minister can save you. They are not the Savior. Our Savior is our only hope, Obi-wan.
In 1834, Edward Mote, carpenter turned Baptist minister, knew where his hope rested. Hear his words tonight and be blessed.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
in love,
